Justin with the mini UPS package car at Martinsville Speedway

This past weekend at Martinsville Speedway, Justin Chaney was part of the UPS Trackside Services team. Justin took some time on Sunday to talk with UPS Racing about what he does both at and away from the track.

My name is Justin and I am an on-road supervisor out of the Danville, Virginia Center. I’ve been with UPS for five years and first started working with the company unloading trucks.

I was glad to be able to go out to the track this past weekend and work for the UPS Trackside program. I really like going out to the track because I like seeing the people involved in the sport and making sure they have what they need for the weekend. It’s fun to see everything that goes on at the track that regular race fans don’t get to see.

During my spare time, I enjoy riding mountain bikes, going camping and riding four-wheelers.

Trackside with Brinder Gill

This past weekend at Pocono Raceway, Brinder Gill, who works as a Sales Support Representative in Allentown, Penn. was part of the UPS Track Services team. Brinder took some time out of his busy schedule on race day to talk with UPS Racing about what he does both at and away from the track.

This weekend at Pocono Raceway was my first time working for UPS Trackside. It was pretty exciting to be out at the track and see all of the fans. It was also nice to see how the whole NASCAR thing works. It was also my first time seeing the sport.

We spent the weekend making deliveries to people all around the track. I’ve been with UPS for two-and-a-half years and was glad to get out to the track and work for the company at the race.

I like working for a company that puts its customers before itself, and that’s what UPS does. Customer service is number one.

When I’m not working, I like to play sports. I play mostly football and basketball. I’m originally from California but moved out to Pennsylvania because I went to school at Penn State.

Trackside with Bill Jacobs

Bill Jacobs served as one of the UPS Trackside Services workers this past weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Bill took some time to share his experience at the race track in this week’s TSS feature.

I’ve been working with the Trackside Services group at UPS for just about nine years now and I’m always excited about coming out to the track. Working at Trackside during the race weekend is really something that I enjoy doing.

In August of this year, it will be 32 years that I have been working with UPS. I have worked in data processing, spent 19 years in purchasing, and I’ve been in business development since 1996. My favorite thing about working for UPS is the people that I get to work with. We’re all really proud to work for UPS.

At the race track, my favorite part is just the excitement of the weekend and the fans. It’s nice to be really busy and making sure that our customers all around the track get their stuff in time. They’re always excited to get their packages and they’re excited about seeing our cars out here at the track, especially the little mini-golf cart that we use to deliver packages. Fans just really love that car.

I am a NASCAR fan and my favorite driver has got to be David Ragan. I was able to meet David while making a special Trackside delivery to him while he was making an appearance up in the UPS suite. That was probably my favorite part about the entire weekend.

A View From Trackside

Hi, I’m Anthony Mares from the Las Vegas area and this past weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, I was part of the Trackside Services team for UPS.

I’ve been with UPS for over 20 years and this is a special event at the track that I’ve been able to work at for the past four or five years. The honor of being out here mostly goes to 20+ year drivers, so it’s something that you do have to earn. When I’m not doing this on race weekends, I have my own route that I do during the week.

The week of the race is a really busy time. During the first part of the week, there is a lot going on and a lot involved. We do a lot of sorting with freight and making sure that everyone gets their stuff. Most of the time, we don’t know where any of the customers are set up during that time, so we head out and locate everyone so we have an idea of where they will be for the weekend. This year we did really good and got rid of every single package during the week.

I will say that I am a race fan and I’ve been coming out to NASCAR races here in Vegas ever since they opened this track. And for the last four or five years I’ve been working Trackside.

My favorite part about being out here is representing UPS. We are immediately recognizable to everyone at the track. There are a lot of people at the haulers and vendors that count on UPS for on-time shipments and getting their stuff quickly in order to have a successful event. It’s fun when you’re making a delivery and you know that they’re happy to see you. I get a lot of satisfaction from that and being out here for UPS.

Twenty-three year-old David Ragan has already accomplished much in the racing world.
